CAUSE OF CONCERN NOT TO BE || 08-DEC-2023

C
Welcome to 08/12. The CAUSE OF CONCERN NOT TO BE is in 2 Kings 08:12.

“And Hazael said, Why weepeth my lord? And he answered Because I know the evil that thou wilt do unto the children of Israel: their strong holds wilt thou set on fire, and their young men wilt thou slay with the sword, and wilt dash their children, and rip up their women with child.”

2Kings 8:12

Hazael was a trusted servant of Benhadad, king of Syria who was sent to the prophet Elisha to know whether he would recover from his sickness or not.
After telling Hazael that the king will die from the sickness, Elisha focuses on him and weeps – “And he settled his countenance steadfastly until he was ashamed: and the man of God wept.” vs 11
This made Hazael ask why the man of God wept – “And Hazael said, Why weepeth my lord?”
The answer of the man of God revealed the evil that Hazael will do later in the future when he becomes the king – “And he answered Because I know the evil that thou wilt do unto the children of Israel: their strong holds wilt thou set on fire, and their young men wilt thou slay with the sword, and wilt dash their children, and rip up their women with child.”
Hazel doubted that he would ever do such grievous evil – ” And Hazael said, But what, is thy servant a dog, that he should do this great thing? And Elisha answered, The Lord hath showed me that thou shalt be king over Syria.” vs 13
In the long run, Hazael murdered the sick king, became the king, and did terrible things as prophesied by Elisha.
God revealed to Elisha what evil Hazael would do by the time he became king.

These evil tendencies of Hazael were unknown to him before then but well known to the all-knowing God.
These evil tendencies of Hazael are seeds buried in his heart that were to germinate when he becomes king and lead to terrible consequences.
Many people look innocent today but can wreak havoc if given power, position, and prosperity.
Who could have thought that David the innocent shepherd boy would one day kill one of his most trusted soldiers to cover up his adultery?
The heart of any man is desperately wicked but well known to God – “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.” Jer. 17:9-10
You need to subject your heart to the scrutiny of the Scriptures and the Spirit of God if you don’t want to be another Hazael.
Don’t allow your heart to deceive you, there are terrible things you are capable of doing later tomorrow that you can never believe you can do today.

PRAYER:
O LORD PURELY PURGE ME OF EVERY SINFUL AND EVIL TENDENCY THAT I AM CAPABLE OF DOING NOW AND LATER IN JESUS’ NAME.

BEWARE OF YOUR HEART, IT CAN DECEIVE YOU

Purge Your Heart Always & You’ll Be Filled With THANKSGIVING
